The art of “letting go”… continues at a mad pace, here in the studio. I haven’t had this much fun since I was kid. Really! I have been practicing letting go of fear, a little at a time. I read about this in Pema Chodron’s book, Taking the Leap: Freeing Ourselves from Old Habits and Fears. I recommend reading this book, it’s brilliant as are all her writings. The idea is to practice feeling “what” are afraid of, rather than bypassing it… to whatever the addiction of choice happens to be. Even if that choice would be a reaction, food, or numbing out… fill in the blank!
So while I am creating, when the fear comes up, I say to myself, or there it is… I feel it, and then I make the mark, or glue the thing down anyway! Since the work is about the process, not the end product, I am free to goof up, make mistakes and liberate myself. Which, by the way… is really liberating! Yay!
Oh, if you’re interested, this piece is for sale… just as soon I get the wire on the back and sign and tag it!
