Summer “Art Camp” for Grown-ups

Enjoy a week of artistic enrichment at Art Groove 2016. Join us for the 10th annual de Benneville Pines’ summer art camp!

Five tracks are offered: life drawing, watercolor painting, photography, mixed media (printmaking/book arts) and acrylic painting. Each camper will choose an area of study, receiving instruction from a highly-recognized artist within that field. Materials are provided. Attendance for each class is limited to 16 (12 for life drawing and mixed media), to ensure that instructors can give individual attention to every student.

Classes begin August 19, 2016, and run from 2-5pm. Thereafter, classes are 9am-12noon. Following these daily morning sessions and lunch in the lodge, campers will be free to experience a variety of afternoon workshops. These include: acrylic painting, portrait painting, photography, watercolor painting, watercolor journaling, torn-paper collage and more. Instructors will speak on the subject, “My Life as an Artist,” each evening.

Attendees may also blend art instruction with summer pleasures like hiking, swimming, yoga, and of course, relaxation under the pines. Dinner in the lodge offers a time to discuss the day’s activities, and evening “Art Jams” feature movies, discussion groups, and even more outlets for artistic expression. In the spirit of sharing and learning, throughout the six days of camp art will be displayed, culminating in a special exhibit on the final morning.

Early registration is recommended to reserve a space in this popular, adults-only “learning vacation.” The cost of $690 ($765 if registering after June 30) includes instruction, workshops, materials, food, lodging, and all standard activities available at de Benneville Pines. There are a limited number of double beds available and spouses/partners of artists are welcome to come for a relaxing week in the mountains without participation in the art programs. The cost for spouses/partners is $595 ($670 if registering after June 30). Anyone who recruits someone to come to Art Groove who has never been to Art Camp before can receive a $75 rebate for each recruit at check-in.
