Join Us at Art Camp!

We rolled down the car windows, inhaling the crisp scent of the woods and pines…

Last weekend, my friends Greg and Jean, and I headed up to Camp de Benneville Pines to scope out the location and classrooms where we’ll be teaching for Art Groove, an art camp for adults. We also wanted to connect with Laura, the organizer, and Barbara, the painting instructor.

The 17 Acre property is amazing… the trees so majestic and fragrant. There’s a stream that runs through the property, for walking and meditating by. Huge boulders are scattered throughout— surrounded by pine needles and cones. We heard thunder and felt raindrops and listened to the sounds of nature.

I couldn’t have ask for better weather or more gracious pals. Aside from the symptoms I suffered due to the curvy roads and high elevation (8,000 ft), it was a perfect day.

I can’t believe we’ll be heading back up for a whole week of art (and nature) in late August… won’t you join us?

Art Groove: Summer Adult Art Camp

COST: $945 ($995 AFTER MAY 31, 2015)

Includes instruction, workshops, materials, food, lodging and all standard activities available at de Benneville Pines.

Each camper will choose an area of study; drawing, painting, photography, printmaking or sculpture from a highly recognized artist. All levels are welcome. Classes are limited to 16. Instructors include: Barbara Gothard (painting), Barbara Jordan (photography), Jean Krumbein (drawing), Victor Picou (sculpture) and Charlie Ciali (printmaking).

A variety of mini workshops will also be offered, including a workshop I’ll be hosting, “Inside Out: Unfolding the creative process—overcoming resistance.” Throughout the week, workshops on painting, calligraphy, using fabric to create fine art pieces, anatomy, and canvas stretching will take place, along with small group discussions, films and lots more! Hiking, swimming, yoga, and dancing under the pines are also included.
