I’ve recently discussed the notion of being open to change and new opportunities — as well as patience and timing. Well, the time for GOOD and EXCITING and REWARDING opportunity has come!
I have been selected for a 4-week artist in residency program in Morocco in February 2016 with Green Olive Arts. (It’s hard not to write this with a smile plastered on my face!)
Green Olive Arts’ CONVERGENCE: A four week Artist Residency will explore the places where heritage, culture and art come together. A select group of artists will engage and dialogue with local experts and be immersed in experiences aimed at informing their creative practice and offering insight into the local fabric of life and art. The artists, selected from a broad spectrum of creative practice, will share research and production as they explore the meeting of past, present and future in Tetouan and Marrakech, Morocco.
Three weeks will be spent exploring and creating art in Tetouan. Then, as a group we will travel to Marrakech for five days for the opening ceremonies and exhibitions of the 6th edition of the Marrakech Biennale.
Tetouan, has been called the jewel of Morocco’s Mediterranean Coast. Its medina (old walled city) is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It’s also ideally situated between Tangier, Chefchaouen and Ceuta in the Rif area. It’s a perfect blend of old meets new.
And I will be there! The planning begins to see if I can also stay a little longer to extend my stay for two additional weeks.
Upon my return, it’s my desire to conduct workshops that incorporate the styles and lessons I will no doubt adapt during my travels. 2015 has been a year of BIG changes, and with this excursion, 2016 is shaping up to be just as exciting, if not better!
And don’t worry, I’ll keep you updated on my impending travels as the date approaches and I get more details. I can hardly wait…
CONGRATULATIONS. How exciting!!
Thank you for all your support!
